Laminate remains a popular choice for floor covering. Many individuals choose to lay laminate themselves, without the help of a handyman. However, this often necessitates experience and professional knowledge.
Unprofessional handymen frequently make a few common mistakes, including:
1.Uneven floors. It may be surprising, even for individuals with a basic knowledge of renovation, but one of the most frequently encountered errors involves installing laminate on an unready surface. Prior to installation, the floor should be leveled, cleaned, and thoroughly dried. Laminate is a sensitive material, so even slight unevenness or debris on the floor can result in squeaking or sagging. And if the floor is not fully dried, the laminate can sag.
2. Lack of a subfloor. Another common error is laying laminate without a subfloor. The subfloor serves important functions such as thermal and acoustic insulation. Without a subfloor, the laminate will quickly develop creaks and squeaks due to inadequate load distribution.
3. Improper spacing from the wall. A frequent mistake is failing to leave a gap between the laminate and the wall. If you don't leave a gap between the laminate and the wall, you'll soon be in trouble – often the panels will just start to sag. To prevent this, it is necessary to leave a gap of 1-1.5 cm between the laminate and the wall, which can be covered by skirting boards. It is important to fix the skirting board to the wall, not the floor. Floor fixation and proper installation are crucial for a durable and aesthetically pleasing result.
4. Fixing to the floor. This is a mistake that occurs less frequently, but it's important to be aware of and avoid. Unlike upholstery, laminate is attached to the surface without the use of glue, nails, screws, or any other fasteners. It is crucial to carefully read the instructions before laying the laminate. Due to its sensitivity, laminate boards can warp over time if mishandled.

To prevent this, we can assist you in avoiding embarrassing mistakes and ensuring a quick and efficient installation.
